No Man’s Sky Aquarius brings fishing and cooking to space, alongside a new watery expedition
Just when it seemed No Man’s Sky may run out of cool things to add to its ever-growing universe exploration, now, hot on the heels of the huge water update we got last time out, the devs at Hello Games have given players that weirdest of all gaming obsessions, fishing!
Now you can take your rod out with you in your ship, explore the stars, and find the perfect, relaxing fishing spot for you, and maybe your friends, to chill out in.
Now you can start looking for the perfect base location for your fishing camp. Indeed Hello Games’s head honcho Sean Murray said, “My favorite thing is to build a little base on the perfect shoreline, so I can cast my rod whenever the mood takes me. I’m excited for new players to join me!”
In a game that has changed so much in recent years to make it one of the most played games in the space sim genre, adding new content and quality-of-life changes to make the game more immersive is the next step in keeping the game fresh and enticing players back time after time.
Hello Games said, “Fishing in No Man’s Sky is a uniquely relaxing experience. Players can now explore the universe to find their perfect waterside spot, hopping with fish. Sit and relax alone with your thoughts, or stand alongside fellow Travellers as you look out over alien vistas waiting for a bite.”
And of course, fishing in space is not going to see you catching cod and catfish. Unique aquatic species lurk beneath the recently improved surface-line and you can collect and hang your trophies to show off what you have managed to catch.
As with all No Man’s Sky updates, the new content is completely free of charge and available now. The download on Steam weighs in at 8.8GB for the new patch.
A new Expedition – Aquarius, also begins today and will run for the next six weeks. Challenging players to fish across the galaxy catching many weird and wonderful creatures, completing it will get you a host of deep-sea customization parts.
As ever there is a huge set of patch notes for the update and you can catch up on them in your own time at the NMS site.
