As the nights get ever darker we all know that just the other side of the holiday season will bring the game that Civ fans already know will take up most of their time at the start of 2025. Civilization VII is fast approaching and as Firaxis drops more and more tasty morsels our way it is time to see how well our trusty PCs will handle the latest game in the series.
The PC specs with three different settings have just been released, Minimum, Recommended and the one we all want, Ultra, so let’s match up what they are telling us we will need with what we have in our gaming rig.
Civ 7 – PC Specifications
So the Civilization VII specs don’t look too onerous. A 4070 or equivalent to run the game on Ultra doesn’t seem too bad, bearing in mind that’s around the equivalent of a 2080Ti which is around five years old at this stage. The RAM specs ramp up though suggesting 32GB is the norm for an Ultra play through.
Anybody who is not worried about graphical fidelity and just wants to play on an old laptop should be more than fine as the 30FPS setting on Minimum is pretty low to be fair.

We don’t have any settings for 2K as the chart leaps between 1080p and 4K so it’s safe to assume that somewhere between will be the sweet spot, meaning that the 2K option should be pretty much accessible to anybody with a half-decent recent PC.
How big is Civ VII?
It looks as though we are only going to need 20GB of storage on our SSD which is pretty moderate too. This will be especially useful on lower-end hardware such as laptops that might not come equipped with masses of spare storage space.
You can find out everything you need to know about Civ VII right here. We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
