Apple issued a new update for its iPhone 16 range only days after its release, as some users complained about display issues. The iPhone 16 lineup was launched on Friday (Sept. 20), however, several users encountered problems with the touchscreen functionality.
The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will all have an incremental update. Older iPhones do not require the update. Although the iPhones with a build number of 22A3351 came with iOS 18.0 pre-installed, the latest update is still iOS 18.0, but with a slightly higher build number of 22A3351.
The update is only 466.4mb, with Apple stating: “This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.”
However, they don’t provide specific details about what the security updates are addressing. With iPhone 16 devices just now reaching users, Apple usually delays releasing such information until the updates are more widely installed. Revealing the issues before they’ve been patched could potentially leave iPhone owners vulnerable.
In addition, Apple rolled out a new update for all iPhones capable of running iOS 18 last week, addressing 33 security vulnerabilities. Many of these issues impact key features of even the top-tier iPhones, from Bluetooth to Control Center. These vulnerabilities could allow unauthorized access to your data or even complete control over any affected devices.
iPhone 16 users told to download iOS 18 update
Several iPhone users posted on X that they had received a message on their phone to download the new iOS 18. One user noted that despite the update, they were still facing touchscreen issues.

Earlier this week, some users reported that their touches were being ignored when their fingers are near the new Camera Control on the right side of the display. While other users claimed they were having touchscreen issues with the keyboard. Some consumers complained that it was ignoring taps, swipes, and scrolls.
For further information, Apple does provide notes about their security releases on their support site. At the time of writing, the most recent notice did not appear on the website.
