When starting off a game of Throne and Liberty (after waiting for the janky servers to actually let you in) one of the first things you are taught in that tutorial you ignored is about switching between Action and Classic modes.
Even if you were paying attention it is not instantly apparent from the text boxes that pop up what the difference between the two modes actually is, and it is only when you try them both out you will hit on one that you prefer.
So what’s the difference between the Action and Classic modes in Throne and Liberty? Let’s find out.
Choosing Action or Classic Modes
Your choice may well come down to how much of an old-school MMORPG player you are. Classic may be familiar if you are getting older in the tooth whereas Action is a much more modern take on game control.
In all honesty, we think Action mode is the go-to regardless. Everything seems much simpler in Action mode and you aren’t losing valuable sections trying to line up the camera correctly.
Action mode will follow you around and turn the camera when you turn where as classic sees you moving with WASD as normal but having to move the camera yourself with the right mouse button.
Some may prefer it and it may be better if your character is Support rather than Melee but overall we would hugely suggest putting the game in Action Mode and probably leaving it there for the vast majority of your playtime,
Switching between Classic and Action modes
You can thankfully switch between modes with the push of a button – the V key will do the trick if you haven’t messed with the PC’s default settings. Of course, the V key is also quite close to some of the other keys on the keyboard you may be using regularly, so if you find yourself catching it and switching between modes accidentally, you should consider rebinding it to one a little further out of the path of your fingers.
