Kambi Group plc is pushing further into the US market with a new multi-year agreement that brings its sports betting technology to North Dakota. The company has signed a deal with the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation to power on-site wagering at 4 Bears Casino and Lodge.
The property, located in New Town along Lake Sakakawea, is the flagship gaming and entertainment venue owned and operated by the MHA Nation. Once the rollout is complete, Kambi will take over from the casino’s current third-party supplier and run the retail sportsbook using its own platform.
The setup will include self-service kiosks, staffed over-the-counter betting terminals and “Bring Your Own Device” functionality, allowing customers to place wagers on their phones while inside the casino. The idea is to create a seamless, on-property experience that blends digital convenience with a traditional sportsbook environment.
With the agreement, Kambi now has a presence in 27 US states, which is another step in its expansion across regulated North American markets.
“We are proud to partner with the MHA Nation and 4 Bears Casino and Lodge to bring world-class sports betting experiences to the state of North Dakota,” Kambi CEO Werner Becher said in the company’s announcement. “The MHA Nation is well-positioned to elevate its entertainment offering across the state, and this agreement marks another important step in expanding regulated sports betting across tribal gaming.”
The contract also leaves the door open for additional growth. It allows for the possibility of on-premise mobile wagering and even statewide mobile betting in the future, though any broader launch would depend on regulatory approval.
Kambi Group’s broader push across tribal and international markets amid North Dakota deal
The North Dakota deal lands at a time when Kambi has been actively adding partners. The company recently secured a turnkey sportsbook agreement with the Oneida Indian Nation, expanding its tribal gaming footprint and reinforcing its strategy of working closely with sovereign operators seeking more control over their betting operations.
Kambi has also been broadening its international reach. It signed an agreement with Glitnor Group to become the new sportsbook provider for the operator’s brands, further diversifying its global client base.
In North Dakota, the MHA Nation has been investing heavily in its gaming properties. 4 Bears Casino and Lodge recently completed a new events center and is close to finishing a new hotel tower designed to increase guest capacity. Plans are also moving forward for a second property, Son of Star Casino, which could create future opportunities for sportsbook expansion.
General Manager Patrick Packineau pointed to Kambi’s technology platform and experience in tribal gaming as key reasons for choosing the supplier.
For now, sports betting in North Dakota remains limited to tribal casinos, as statewide online wagering has not been authorized. A proposed constitutional amendment that would have allowed online betting failed to advance in the state House in 2025, leaving in-person tribal sportsbooks as the only legal option.
