Off The Grid is the latest game to take on the battle royale extraction shooter crossover, bringing with it a few unique twists to pull attention away from its competitors.
Even though it is in its infancy, you’re already able to play it on different platforms, with many asking the question if Off The Grid is crossplay.
Here, we’ll break this down for you, revealing if you’re able to play with friends on different platforms.
Off The Grid crossplay explained
Off The Grid, in its Early Access state, does not support crossplay even though it is available to download on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
However, it has been stated by Gunzilla Games, the developers, that crossplay will be a system that is put in place sometime in the future.
In an interview with Game Rant, Gunzilla has indicated that they are aiming to “create a more inclusive and connected gaming community, breaking down the barriers that previously separated players based on their choice of console”.
Additionally, there is a suggestion that crossplay is already implemented behind the scenes – “Our team has worked hard to ensure that cross-play will not affect gameplay balance and that all players will have equal opportunities to succeed.”
Since the game is playable on the three big platforms in Early Access, we anticipate that crossplay will be implemented at the full 1.0 launch, if not before.
While this is speculation at this point, the game is in a polished state, compared to most early access titles out there, as well as the team explicitly saying that crossplay balancing is something they’re working hard on.
Whether this means full crossplay between all platforms remains to be seen but it would make the most sense to do this, ensuring that player counts stay as high as they possibly can be.
